Muon Tomography Applied to Nickel Massive Sulphide Deposits

This white paper summarizes how muon tomography was used to successfully image massive sulfide deposits over a 3 km strike at BHP’s nickel mines in Western Australia. Included in the program was a multiphysics analysis which combined ground and airborne gravity datasets with muon data, in addition to other key insights ranging from regional geological mapping to valuable geotechnical information.
